Indicator NameIncome Poverty
Short definitionProportion of population below US$1.90 a day is the percentage of the population living on less than $1.90 a day at 2011 international prices.
Long definitionCollection of the “Proportion of population below US$1.25 a day” indicator was replaced with the new indicator “Proportion of population below US$1.90 a day” by WDI in 2015, the SCI will now use the “Proportion of population below US$1.90 a day” indicator instead, to measure the SCI’s Income poverty indicator, under the periodicity dimension. The previous indicator “Proportion of population below US$1.25 a day” measured the percentage of the population living on less than $1.25 a day at 2005 international prices. The new indicator “Proportion of population below US$1.90 a day” measures the percentage of the population living on less than $1.90 a day at 2011 international prices.
