In terms of major deviations from international standards, the Central Government debt is valued at face value and accrued interest is not included.

Other financial corporations include insurance companies, mutual funds and the Heritage and Stabilization Fund. The mutual funds currently surveyed account for approximately 90% of total funds under management by this sector. Data for the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, CBTT and deposit-taking corporations are fully covered from administrative records. Direct Investment through inter-company lending accounts for the bulk of private sector external debt, the vast majority of which is incurred by energy sector companies which is indicative of their funding structure and exploration and production operations.
