3.17 Additional comments and explanations on Sector Classification/Coverage(i) National Bank of Cambodia is responsible to compile the external sector statistics which covers balance of payments, international investment position, and external debts statistics. The external debt statistics of general government, central bank, and depository corporations is compiled on quarterly basis with reliable information and data sources. The data source of the general government external debts is derived from Ministry of Economy and Finance, while the central bank and depositary corporations are derived from the balance sheets of central bank and depositary corporations, respectively. (ii) However, the compilation of private sector external debts is very challenges due to the limitation of data sources. The compilation is based on estimation model and Bank for International Settlement (BIS) for non-bank sector.
